Bug Hunt
Summertime brings unique outdoor opportunities for growth, learning and fun. Going on a bug hunt is an adventure. It strengthens your child's observation skills and teaches him about life cycles, all in your own backyard or neighborhood.

What you'll need:

bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) Non-breakable magnifying glass (optional)
bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) Safe outdoor area


What to do:

bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) Invite your child to go on a bug hunt with you.
bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) Look around the outdoor area for bugs. Look in corners, in the grass, in bushes, on trees, in the dirt and even underground.
bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) Write down the name of any bug you or your child sees or ask your child to draw a picture of the bug on the list.
bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) Use the magnifying glass to examine the creatures more closely.
bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) See how many different bugs you can find during your bug hunt.
bd14868_10.gif (419 bytes) Post the list and add to it as you find other insects during the month.
