Block Party
Turn ordinary boxes and containers into blocks which you and your child can use to build houses, your entire neighborhood, a castle or a puppet stage.

What you'll need:

bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Clean and safe cardboard boxes of different sizes and shapes (shoe, cereal, detergent, moving)
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Clean and safe plastic containers of different sizes (margarine, shampoo, detergent)
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Wide sturdy tape
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Markers
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Newspaper
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Adult scissors (adult use only)
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Colorful contact paper (optional)

What to do:

bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Help your child fill the clean boxes with crumpled newspaper (to add durability) and tape securely with wide plastic tape.
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Decorate the blocks with markers, covering with pieces of colorful contact paper or any other ideas you or your child has.
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Seal other containers with wide plastic tape.
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Enjoy building with your child. Try building a puppet stage for the puppets you made last month or build a barn for animals. See how high you can build with your blocks and count how many are in the stack before it falls over.
bd14868_2.gif (419 bytes) Make new blocks as containers become available. They are easy to store in a larger box or laundry basket.
